Addition

The child you are working with recognizes all quantity pictures immediately? Then you can start with the addition. Write addition tasks on a piece of paper or use teaching material with given tasks. Make sure that the color change button (drop) is switched on and the minus button (bird) is switched off. Ask the child to place the first number of the plus task (1st summand) as cherries in the field of ten. Now the color change button is touched and the second number (2nd summand) is placed in the field. Check together whether the task in the display corresponds to the task on the sheet. Ask the child how many cherries are visible in the app. If it only answers you with the number of red cherries or the number of yellow cherries, ask “How many red and yellow cherries can be seen?” Write the result down.

Example task 3+1
3 red cherries are placed in the ten-slot fielg. The drop is touched. A yellow cherry is placed in the ten-slot field. The comparison of number display and task sheet shows that the task was placed correctly. The result 4 is recognized without counting and written down.
